Life Moves Pretty Fast…
What a whirlwind this month has been! I’m here for the fun and life is delivering!
Last week I was lucky enough to cross something off my bucket list, which was to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers. As a life-long fan, finally getting to see them was incredibly satisfying! I rocked out and sang my little heart out while basking of the bliss of these masters of their class. I let Fruciante’s notes cut straight to my heart and send me soaring into a state of bliss - there were moments where I closed my eyes and felt like I was flying. 🥰 Chad of course held everything together magnificently, and I delighted in Flea’s electric energy while swooning over the Kiedis’s magnetic energy! 🔥I will truly never forget it!
After a few days rest I took off to my hometown to see family for a whole smattering of fun. Two of my nephews graduated and it never ceases to blow me away, the feeling of seeing these tiny little humans turn into young adults in just a few blinks. 🤯 Seems like you hear it your whole childhood from the adults watching you grow, but it never truly hits ya till later, how wild it is. It’s funny how much time we spend anticipating the future while the present quietly slips into the past. I remember back when I lived with my sister, my sweet 3-year-old nephew coming to me at night, crying from some nightmare. I loved being there for him because I remembered being scared at night and how wonderful it felt when someone was there to help me feel safe. And now, here he is, all up and out of high school, and I can’t tell you how much my lil’ heart soared when I saw how excited he was that I was there for his big day! 🥰 I swear, kids have the best way of making you feel like a million bucks, just for being you and for being present.
Along with all the graduation fun, I got to meet our newest family member and my brother’s first grandbaby. We had so much fun loving on the baby and having 5 generations of our family in one room. It’s so wild to think of all that has happened and changed since my grandma (now a great, great grandmother!) was born in 1935 and all that is to come in her great, great grand daughter’s life ahead. For reference, if the baby sticks around as long as grandma has, she might well be celebrating her own great, great grand baby in the year 2111. 🤯 Let that melt your brain for a minute!
Beyond these celebrations, I got to soak up lots of little moments with so much of my family. It’s hard to squeeze in enough time to see everyone when visiting, but it worked out well this trip. ❤ There was some rain about 3/4 of the way through the graduation, but the rest of the weekend was gorgeous and sunny with shimmering blue skies and the whitest, fluffiest clouds. I even got to go for a joy ride with my pops in his hot rod! What sweet treasures! 🥰
And now, for my next project, I was in the process of going through film negatives from our boat travels when I found a whole jackpot of negatives from that she kept since she graduated in ‘73! So now I’m scanning all of mine and my siblings’ baby photos and childhood milestones from the 70s to the early 00’s, when everything went digital - around 34 years’ worth of photos and memories. It’s kinda funny, to mirror the week of looking into our kids’ futures with reflections of everything which has led up to this point. Some of it seems like just yesterday, while other things feel like entire lifetimes ago. All the while, the future is chillin’ just around the corner.
